Korea - The Matching Couple

My friends Laura and Jeong finally broke down and bought matching shirts! It's VERY common in Korea to see couples wearing matching clothing.

Mud Festival - Day 1

The mud festival weekend was a lot of fun! The first day Adventure Korea took us to our own isolated part of the beach for some "military training." They dressed us in army pants and black shirts, then had us do jumping jacks, push ups, slides on our back and front, crab walk, running races, and lastly, mud wrestling. My team elected me to be our team representative for the female mud wrestling... which I won! Crazy. Everyone was completely covered in mud. After rising off, we headed over to the nice sandy part of the beach for a swim.

Mud Prison and Concert on the Beach

That night we went to watch the concert on the beach. I was no longer covered in mud, so I needed to spend a little time in 'mud prison'. After the concert we bought some sparklers and had some fun on the beach. I was sick on Canada Day, so I finally got my sparkler fix!

Mud Festival - Day 2

The fun continued the second day on the main beach. This time there were other methods of getting muddy like having buckets poured over your head, going down the mudslide, mud wrestling (which I had enough of the first day). I finally cleaned myself off, but Jillian just couldn't get enough of the mud!

Mamma Mia in Korea!

Last Sunday I went to the Theater to see Mamma Mia! The whole performance was done in Korean which was a completely new experience. I had already see Mamma Mia back in Canada three years ago, and I loved it once again! They actually had subtitles above the top of the stage which was pretty cool. The bottom picture is Sophia and Sally from work.

J.M. Girls

We had a girls night with my co-workers at Robin's place.

Christian's Birthday

We went out last weekend for my friend Christian's birthday (2nd picture). Top picture is Jillian, Robin, and InHee. The last picture is Robin and an Irish guy we were talking to along the way.

Dinner with Friends

Here are some of my friends here in Korea. From left to right: me, Jeung (Laura's boyfriend), Laura, InHee, Robin, and Jillian. I work with Laura, Robin and Jillian.

Apgujeongdong

This area of Seoul is referred to as "Korea's Beverly Hills". I spent the afternoon with some friends walking around this neighbourhood. We saw a lot of expensive cars, and a lot of expensive brand name stores. For a girl who doesn't really like to shop, it won't be a place that I spend a lot of time.

Seodaemun Prison History Hall

My friend Christian and I went to visit the Seodaemun Prison History Hall a few weeks ago. The prison was used to hold Korean prisoners during the Japanese invasion (early 1900's). The experience was educational, but not one I'm looking to have again anytime soon. The wall coffins, execution building, corpse removal exit, the graphic displays, the realistic screams coming from the cells in the basement... a little more than I could handle on a Sunday afternoon.

Seodaemun Independence Park

After the Prison Hall we made our way to a more uplifting area called Seodaemun Independence Park.
