Pictures in the Park with my K-5's!

Last Friday I went to the park with my K-5 classes for some games and pictures! We had such a great time. These kids are so cute and so full of enthusiasm!

My Niece Turns 2!!

This week my little niece turned two years old! She had her birthday party last weekend with all her little friends (a.k.a. my cousin's babies!) I was sad to miss the party, but excited to see her wearing her dress I bought her in Vietnam!

Church with Cartoon Jesus

Just outside my neighbourhood, there is a massive Methodist Church. I found the picture of the cartoon Jesus playing the guitar to be quite amusing.

Random Day at Olympic Park

This past weekend some girls from work and I went to one of my favourite places in Seoul, Olympic Park. We took some fun pictures, videos, and watched a Chinese circus.

Apartment Capital of the World

Everywhere I go in Seoul, there seems to be new apartment buildings going up. As much as I love Olympic park, I was shocked to see a complete wall of apartments that now blocks the view of surrounding mountains. This city is growing like crazy!

Christie the Drama Teacher?

For the month of August I taught a summer intensive drama class. Christie the drama teacher, who would have thought! They actually did a really great job. I have these same grade 3 students for regular English class as well. Our play was called the City Mice and the Country Mice.

My Korean Shower

I was talking to my friend Leslie the other day on the phone, and I was explaining to her how I didn't have a closed in shower in my bathroom. I realized that many people back home probably aren't aware of how common this is in Korea. My shower head is on the wall above my sink, and the water basically sprays out over my bathroom each time I shower. This makes for easy cleaning! It was a little strange at first, but now I don't even think about it. I wonder what my parents will think when they come! :-)

Hiking at Bukhansan National Park

Last Sunday I decided I needed to get out of the city and get lost in the woods for a day, and that's exactly what I did (literally). Bukhansan National Park is just north of Seoul, about an hour on the subway. I was going to tackle the mountains alone, but instead met up with Christian and we joined a group of Korean hikers. It was a great day! We ended up hiking for about 6 1/2 hours, and we were exhausted. We saw some rock climbers and rope riders along the way.

View From Techno Mart

This is the view over to my neighbourhood from the observation deck at Techno Mart. In the first picture you can see Olympic Bridge in the background.

Monkey's at the Mini Zoo

A couple weeks ago I went with my friend Christian to a mini zoo at Namsan Park, and it was definitely a "mini zoo." I love monkey's, so the trip was worthwhile! :-)

Exercise and Pool Time on the Roof

Me trying to stretch out my little Korean kids

A few weeks ago I got to take some of my classes upstairs on the roof for some exercising and games in the pool. After I worked my skinny little Korean students to exhaustion, we played some fun games in the water. The last picture is me with two of my really sweet girls, Claire and Anne.

Trying to Blend In

These are some friends from church. We were waiting to go out for dinner and happened to sit down in front of this picture. Poor Matt, having to play along with our silly ideas.

World Championship Men's Basketball Pre-Game: U.S.A. vs. Lithuania

Had a chance to see a men's basketball world championship pre-game before they all headed over to Japan for the tournament. Pretty one sided game, but really great to see players like LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Bosh playing here in Seoul. Also watched some of the Korea/Italy game that followed.
