Lion King in Seoul!

Co-workers Katie and Sally

Last Saturday night 3 friends and I went to see the Broadway Production Lion King here in Seoul. It was fantastic!! Loved the costumes, stage set up was very impressive, the only disadvantage was that it was all in Korean. Fortunately I've seen the movie enough times to have the English version going through my head while I was watching! :-)

Pancake Lunch at My Place!

Last Saturday my Korean co-workers had to work, so I invited them over on their lunch break for some pancakes! Any excuse to make pancakes for friends!

DMZ: Camp Bonifas and JSA

DMZ: Conference Building

Conference room that visitors can tour. South Korea on the left, North Korea on the right.

Military Demarcation Line. Official line that runs down the center of the DMZ (N. Korea side left, S. Korea side right)

DMZ: View of North Korea

North Korea's propaganda village. Tallest flagpole in the world with a flag weighing 5oo lbs!
Mountains on N. Korea side have been completely cleared.

DMZ: Bridge of No Return

The prisoners were exchanged on this bridge.
This is a memorial for the soldiers killed trying to cut down a tree that was blocking their line of sight. They took a group of three civilian workers and eight soldiers out to cut down the tree. They were met by approximately 30 NK soldiers, and were attacked. They were grossly outnumbered, and the NK soldiers attacked them with axes...

DMZ: 3rd Tunnel

I borrowed this picture from my friend Christian since we weren't "technically" suppose to have our cameras in the tunnel. Discovered in 1978, North Koreans claimed they were "mining for coal." This was the end of the tunnel, with a door that leads into North Korea.

Korean Pepero Day

Our friend Hero bought us pepero, and tried on Robin's new hat! Me with my "long" pepero.
On November 11th every year Korean's celebrate Pepero Day. Pepero's are small thin biscuits covered in chocolate, and they give them out to their friends. We went to our neighbourhood pub that night, and a couple Korean friends bought us Pepero. They were so excited because they managed to find one that was called "LONG" pepero, just for me! Korean's always comment on how "long" I am.

Pre-Christmas At Everland!

Last weekend Jillian, Robin and I took the bus an hour south to Everland. We had a great day, despite the fact we were freezing all day!! We got a lot of attention from all the kids there, saying hello and practicing their english with us. My friends described me as an "attraction" at the park since my height and blond hair got many comments and people even asked to take my picture! Of course because I was the "freakishly" tall blond girl.

Bike Riding by the Han River!

I'm racing!
By Building 63, tallest building in Korea.
Last Sunday Robin and I rented bicycles and rode along the Han River! It was beautiful! I borrowed Robin's pink bike and pretended to race!

Seoul World Cup Soccer Stadium

Last Saturday Robin and I went to see World Cup Stadium! We just missed the Queen Peace Cup Women's Soccer Championship game between U.S. and Canada. U.S. won 1-0.... :( Oh well, good for Canada for making it to the finals!!

Korean's Love Stairs!

Robin and I had plans to climb these stairs at Sky Park, but unfortunately the park was closing! All these people are making their way down!

Hiking at Bukhansan National Park Once Again

A couple weekends ago I went up north of Seoul once again hiking at Bukhansan National Park with of course, my hiking partner Christian. We enjoyed the hike, although the rain made things a little tricky on the way down.
